Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Deadly Car Crash

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been released from care, Nigerian authorities announced on late Wednesday. The 36-year-old was involved in a car accident outside Lagos on December 29th, a horrific crash that took the lives of two of his close associates.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

The sports star had remained in the hospital while healing from his light wounds, his promoter had said on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on X that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to continue his recovery at home.

“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two friends who passed away as they were being prepared for repatriation,” Omotosho said.

Honoring the Deceased

The two men who died were identified as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. It was also noted that the athlete was heartbroken and full of emotions over the passing of his two dear friends.”

The news of his discharge comes as the global fight fans had expressed condolences for the fighter in the wake of the devastating accident.
